It´s funny how sometimes life surprises you and things come to you when you least expect them. I had been thinking of traveling to Santorini, Greece, on the occasion of my 10th wedding anniversary, but was hesitating as end of June is such a busy time for weddings. Last autumn I photographed a great feature for the Belmond Hotel Magazine up in La Residencia with Joan Miró´s grandson (the famous painter who lived in Mallorca for many years). That is how I got to chatting with Natascia, the Marketing Manager. She sounded lovely and we clicked from the start but was really surprised to receive a call one day asking me if I was available for her wedding in Santorini!!! OMG, I checked my calendar hoping that I would be available (honestly I was thinking if I am not I will pull my hair out!!) but yes! I was available and that is how I got to combine photographing a dream wedding in Santorini, with my own wedding anniversary trip. We extended our stay beyond the event dates so we could take a well deserved break from the kids and enjoy some romantic time of our own.
At the time I was ignorant of the fact that the groom, Tyson, used to be a high-end wedding photographer based in London that was appointed by Katherine and William, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as their private wedding photographer!! OMG! Shame he turned it down to pursue his interest in commercial photography. So no pressure!! This is one wedding where I cannot fail! Luckily, Tyson was great fun to work with and he is so passionate and has such a great eye for detail. Both Natascia and Tyson welcomed us into their little family and we felt so much at ease around them. Love was definitely in the air!
N+T a huge thanks to both of you for making us part of your dream wedding and letting us if only for a brief moment into your exciting traveling life! I hope you enjoy your photos for many years to come! Much love! XXX Sandra
