Where to Propose in Mallorca: My Favorite Proposal Locations on the Island

If you're planning a surprise proposal in Mallorca, choosing the right location is key.

Mallorca is one of the most beautiful places in Europe to plan a proposal. The island has everything — dramatic sea cliffs, charming villages, elegant hotels and hidden corners that feel incredibly romantic.

Being born and raised in Mallorca, plus the 20 plus years photographing couples all over the island have given me much insider knowledge. I’ve created a guide for you below, with some of the best places to propose in Mallorca.

Over the years I’ve helped many couples plan their surprise proposal here. Most of them are visiting from the US and want something that feels special but also relaxed and natural.

Below are some of my favourite places to propose in Mallorca — a mix of iconic locations, luxury settings and a few quieter spots that most visitors would never find on their own.

Here are my favorite locations around the island that work particularly well for proposals and that I love.

Some are public viewpoints that offer spectacular scenery, while others are private locations that allow for a more intimate moment.

the best places to propose in mallorca

Deià is one of the most romantic villages in Mallorca. Surrounded by mountains and overlooking the Mediterranean, it has a timeless atmosphere that feels perfect for a proposal.

I know a secret little spot here with beautiful views that works incredibly well for surprise proposals, and it´s public but hidden. After that, walking around the church and then down to the village is very enchanting.

Pros

• Very romantic atmosphere
• Beautiful mountain and sea views
• Feels authentic and intimate

Cons

• Parking can be tricky in summer
• The streets can be crowded in the summer

If you’re looking for understated elegance, and a peaceful atmosphere, El Olivo restaurant at Belmond La Residencia is one of the most romantic places on the island. I have done many surprise proposals there and it´s amazing. The food and wine are also some of the best on the island, with excellent service.

The setting is magical — stone terraces, candlelight, olive trees and mountain views.

Pros

• One of the most romantic restaurants in Mallorca
• Perfect for a luxury proposal
• Beautiful atmosphere at sunset

Cons

• Requires a reservation. I recommend booking the upper terrace in exclusivity for a better experience, price starts from around 1,200 euros for the terrace.

Deià Village & My Favorite Hidden Spot

This small boutique hotel near Deià is one of Mallorca’s hidden gems. It sits above the sea and has a beautiful terrace with incredible views.

It feels peaceful and intimate, which makes it ideal for a proposal.

Pros

• Stunning sea views
• Event coordinator in-house will help you with everything
• Very romantic atmosphere
• Quiet and elegant

Cons

• Requires planning or reservation, it´s not public.

Finca Port Verd

Finca Port Verd is an event venue located on the east coast of Mallorca that actually specializes in proposals, elopements, and small weddings.  It has a beautiful terrace on the water that can be decorated with candle lights and petals.

This venue requires a space rental fee and has to be booked in advance. You can contact their events coordinator who can help with the planning and other extra services like flowers, champagne, and music.

Pros

•Gorgeous backdrop of the sea and sunset in the background.
•Privacy for a completely intimate proposal.
•Other vendors available with the venue (decorations, etc.)

Cons
• Rental fee from 1,000 euros per hour
• Limited availability

Hotel Sa Pedrissa - Quiet and Charming

Hotel Cap Rocat - Luxurious yet Understated

Cap Rocat is one of Mallorca’s most exclusive hotels. Proposals can be planned at the Beach Club or at El Cabo restaurant for a truly luxurious experience.

Nearby there are also some beautiful public viewpoints that work well for a more relaxed proposal — sometimes with a sunset picnic.

Pros

• Elegant and dramatic coastal scenery
• Luxury dining option
• Beautiful sunset views

Cons

• Private areas require reservations

Alfabia Gardens is an oasis of tranquility, an impressive manor house with beautiful historic gardens. These gardens date back to the year 902!. Beyond the main gardens, there are several quiet spots with fountains, palm trees and historic architecture.

Pros

• Elegant historic gardens
• Beautiful shade and greenery
• Romantic and peaceful atmosphere
• Easy to get to, 15 min from Palma, 10 mins from Soller.

Cons

• Requires entrance ticket plus you need to pay a fee for a photoshoot.
• You will need to pick a quiet spot

Hotel Boutique Ca´s Xorc - stunning mountain settings

Hotel Ca´s Xorc is a charming luxury hotel on the hills between Soller and Deia. I have shot many weddings and portraits there in the last decade or so and it remains just as charming, authentic and peaceful.

Pros

• A little oasis of calm and tranquility
• Dramatic scenery
• Mallorcan country charm with understated luxury
• Great restaurant with parking

Cons

• It´s on top of a hill with a narrow winding road. The scenery is spectacular though, surrounded by centenary olive trees.
• Private place, you need to book a table or a room in order to shoot there.

Alfabia Gardens - History & Charm

Pueblo Español- unique architecture and atmosphere

Pueblo Español
is a unique place where history and architecture from all over Spain come together.  This location is truly amazing, and you can rent different spaces for your proposal. We shot a proposal at the Roman amphitheatre, and it was one of the most romantic and stunning venues with have seen.

Pros

• Incredible historic architecture
• Very memorable setting
• The various restaurants can cater a private dinner or you can book a regular table.
• In Palma

Cons

• Need to hire a space or ask for permission to have your photo session.
• If you do not hire a private space, it can get busy.
• No gardens.

Port d’Andratx has some of the most beautiful sunsets in Mallorca. The harbour is lined with great seafood restaurants, which makes it a wonderful place to celebrate after the proposal.
What I like about Port of Andraitx is that it still has that traditional fishing village atmosphere, and there are plenty of spots in front of the water for the proposal.

Pros

• Beautiful sunset light
• Many restaurants nearby
• Easy to plan a celebratory dinner

Cons

• Busy in summer evenings

Cap Formentor Viewpoint- Iconic Mallorca Views

Formentor is one of the most famous landscapes in Mallorca, with dramatic cliffs and incredible views over the Mediterranean.

The Formentor viewpoint is spectacular, and the nearby Hotel Formentor is another beautiful and more luxurious option. Beware of the road access before planning to go there. During tourist season, the road gets closed from 10am until late in the evening.

Pros

• One of Mallorca’s most iconic views
• Dramatic scenery
• If you drive past the first tourist stop you´ll find a better viewpoint.
• Amazing for sunrise shots and drone filming

Cons

• During summer months access to the Formentor road is restricted for private vehicles between 10am and 10pm, so proposals here are usually best planned at sunrise or outside peak season. Need a car!
•  Busy area

Port of Andraitx - Sunset by the Water

Son Marroig - Iconic but Limited

Son Marroig is one of the most photographed viewpoints in Mallorca, with its famous marble pavilion overlooking the sea.

It’s incredibly romantic, but access is limited and reservations are required.

Pros

• Very iconic Mallorca location
• Beautiful sea views
• Very photogenic

Cons

• Requires booking and has limited availability

Q. When is the best time to propose in Mallorca?
A. The best months for a proposal in Mallorca are usually April–June and September–October.
During these months the weather is beautiful and the island is less crowded.
Summer proposals can also be wonderful, but I usually recommend sunrise or sunset to avoid crowds and enjoy the best light.
Winter proposals can be surprisingly magical as well — especially at dramatic coastal locations like Sa Foradada when the island feels quiet again.

q. Can you help me plan my proposal?
A. Yes, absolutely. Many couples visiting Mallorca have never been to the island before, so I’m happy to suggest locations based on the type of proposal you have in mind — whether you prefer a scenic viewpoint, a quiet beach, a charming village or a more refined setting at a hotel or restaurant.

Q. How does your proposal photography work?
A. After our initial consultation, we will plan the best location and timings for the proposal. I usually arrive at the location a little early and position myself discreetly so the proposal can happen naturally.

Once the moment happens, I capture the reactions and emotions, and afterwards, we usually take a few relaxed portraits to celebrate the occasion. Many couples also turn this into a short engagement session, which can last for about 45 mins. One week later, you will receive your online gallery featuring a selection of the best images (no limit).

Q. Do you work mostly with international couples?
A. Yes, most of the couples I photograph travel to Mallorca from the US,  Germany, Scandinavia, the UK and other parts of Europe.

Q. What are the best venues for luxury weddings in Mallorca?
A. Mallorca has many exceptional venues, from historic fincas surrounded by olive groves to elegant seaside locations overlooking the Mediterranean.

Q. Do you need a permit to propose in Mallorca?
A. In most public locations you do not need a permit for a simple proposal and photography session.
However, some private venues such as hotels, gardens or historic estates may require reservations or prior permission.

Q. How far in advance should I book a proposal photographer in Mallorca?
A. It’s best to book at least a few weeks in advance, especially during the busy summer season when popular dates fill quickly.

Last-minute proposals are sometimes possible depending on availability, so it’s always worth asking.

Q. Do you travel outside Mallorca?
A. Yes, I travel all over Spain, Italy, France & Marrakesh.

Q. Do you photograph small intimate weddings and elopements?
A. Yes absolutely! I love small weddings and elopements! Check out some of my elopements in my web and blog.
