Hi all! So my first idea for this post was to give you my top 10 venues to get married in Mallorca in 2017. But there are so many venues I love in Mallorca that I have decided to categorise them a little bit. Today I will pick out my favorite hotels to get married and soon I will give you my choices for the best fincas.
Now that the wedding season is over, I´ve come out of my little hiding corner, where I have spent many months post-processing all my 2016 weddings, and yeaaaaaaayyy I´m finally done! I still have some bits and pieces to finish but most of my workload is done and delivered. Now I am starting to entertain myself with new creative ideas and things I want to accomplish throughout the winter months.
The first thing I will do is set up my new page for Photography Mentoring, with online courses and workshops. Should be exciting!!!
But for now, I guess if you are still reading it means that you are getting married next year!!!! Congrats!!
And you must be considering getting married over here on this paradise island of Mallorca. Good choice! I love it here!
Let´s start with my favorite hotels for weddings in Mallorca. They do not appear in order of importance, so number 8 is as good as number 1!
This is an all-time favourite. Every single corner of this magnificent Hotel is full of charm and prettiness. The mountains and landscape are the best of what Mallorca can offer. Hospitality is fantastic and the food is heavenly. Do I need to say more?
This was voted Best Hotel of 2015 for Romance in Europe and the Mediterranean by Condé Nast Johansens. It dates back to the 17th Century and it is located on top of a hill overlooking the village of Puigpunyent and with spectacular views of the countryside. It is refined, elegant and has a truly Mallorcan essence. With an excellent restaurant, several pools, vineyard, olive groves, vegetable garden, horses and a little tree house where you can have culinary experiences, you will feel so good you will not want to leave!
I personally have stayed there on a romantic get away and I love it! My stay was romantic, relaxing and extremely comfortable. I must say I felt at home with the very friendly staff and I highly recommend it to you all. I have also photographed many weddings there and all of them are truly beautiful!
3- Hotel Cap Rocat.
This stunning Hotel is a former military fortress in the bay of Palma, with stunning infinite sea views, that has been refurbished into a luxury retreat. I love the decoration, the atmosphere, the beach club, courtyard and the sea views.
This charming Hotel is on a cliff overlooking the most beautiful blue sea. The lawn is perfect for ceremonies and receptions and the decor is true to the modern Mallorcan style. It has a private villa where you can hold your wedding, and a beautiful beach club. Very peaceful surroundings, you can cycle around and the beach is only a few metres away. A perfect choice.
5- Hotel Fontsanta.
This splendid Hotel is gorgeous! It has impressive modern Mallorcan decoration, exquisite Mediterranean garden and pool, and delicious food. And the most important thing, it has the only Spa in the Balearic islands with natural thermal waters. Trust me, I have tried the Spa and it´s fantastic.
For weddings it´s also perfect if you want to have all your guests staying with you for  a weekend of party and chilling out.
This spectacular hotel is perfect if you want to have your wedding taken care of and not worry about anything much. The excellent wedding coordinator there, Sara and her team, will plan all the details for you and you will not have to worry about a thing. This in itself is a great advantage, but apart from this fact, Mardavall Hotel has a great location, right on the sea but only 10 mins from Palma. It has a great Spa and Kid´s Club and all the comfortable luxuries you would expect from a hotel in this category. I have seen famous football players mingle with wedding guests and top-world celebrities have stayed there.
This refined country Hotel was originally a castle that dates back from the 15th century. It has been tastefully renovated by the current owners with all the comfort and luxuries you would expect from a top 5 star hotel. It was little private villas with own pool and the gardens are magnificent. The restaurant Zaranda has one Michelin star and the courtyards are charming. I love photographing weddings there because it guarantees beautiful, elegant images.
Hotel Formentor has an incredible history.  “I am simply in love with scenery. On one of my pilgrimages around the Mediterranean, I discovered this remarkable spot and my globe-trotting days were over”.
This quote was originally made by Adan Diehl, a millionaire of Argentinean origin, and the spot in question is Formentor, the peninsula located at the top end of the Serra de Tramuntana. Diehl bought the land off a famous Mallorcan poet, Miquel Costa i Llobera, with the intention of creating a luxury Poet´s Club, like a retreat for writers and artists. Since then, many celebrities have stayed at this hotel including Rainier and Grace of Monaco, the Prince of Wales, Winston Churchill, Charles Chaplin, Audrey Hepburn, or the Dalai Lama.
You can get there by car or by boat (which is fun for the guests, from Pollensa port). I love it that you can get married so close to the beach there. The beach club is very nice and with an impressive garden and extensive grounds you have plenty of choices.
This charming boutique hotel in the heart of Serra de Tramuntana has everything you need to celebrate a beautiful country chic wedding. The scenery is breathtaking and every single corner is lush and pretty, with the 19th century stone house, the lovely pool and the elegant staircase. And the enchanting village of Valldemossa is only a stone´s throw so that´s another gorgeous setting for your photos.
This small but charming hotel was originally a villa built in the 1950´s and is set right on the sea with spectacular views of the Port of Andraitx. The presidential/honeymoon suite is beautiful and makes for a great setting for bridal preparation shots. This hotel is perfect for a small to medium wedding and the pretty church of the Port is only a few minutes away on foot. I love taking the wedded couple to the rocks on the Port for some stunning late afternoon shots. The sunset from the roof terrace is also worth mentioning. Cute and charming!
This heavenly boutique hotel is a 250-year-old olive mill nestled between Deià and Sóller, on Mallorca´s rugged northwest coast. It has been tastefully decorated, with beautiful gardens, olive trees, lemon trees breathtaking views and a very good restaurant. A tru Mallorcan gem, this is perfect if you are looking for a discreet hideaway, a retreat in the mountains for small to medium weddings, ideally where you can all stay with friends and family for a fab and unforgettable weekend of celebrations.
This elegant and majestic hotel was built in the 13th century and since its opening in 1961, kings and queens, celebrities and nobles have stayed at Hotel Castillo Son Vida. Situated on top of a hill, it has beautiful views over Palma Bay. Inside it is decorated very classically and it has personality and charm. Its location is very convenient and easy to get to, and it will for sure impress your guests.
This beautiful luxury hotel was built on the historic property of Sa Torre, dating back to the 14th century. It has been decorated with a true Mallorcan finca style but also with all the comfort and attention to detail of a 5-star hotel. In my opinion, what makes this venue unique is that it has a gorgeous neogothic chapel. No other hotel on the island has a chapel like this. There is also the old windmill patio, where most cocktails take place, and the reception area allows you to have dinner al fresco or inside. A very good choice if you are looking for a country wedding.
14- Hotel Son Brull.
This rural boutique hotel is an 18th century jesuit monastery on the outskirts of Pollensa, converted into a luxury hotel. I love the contrast between the outside, very authentic to the Mallorcan architecture and tradition, with the inside which is very cool and minimalist, all decorated with black and white and modern art. It is located on the foot of the Tramuntana mountains and not far from some nices beaches. I have photographed a few weddings there with a relaxed BBQ instead of the formal dining and I really loved the format. I have not been there in a couple of years but I am looking forward to my next wedding there!
This spectacular rural Hotel is set in a classical Mallorcan finca in the heart of the island´s countryside. It is surrounded by olive trees, almond trees, fig trees and lemon trees. The architecture is beautiful, it has been renovated combining the old Mallorcan essence with the comforts of a luxury hotel. It also has a glorious sunset, which is perfect for portraits.
I hope this post has been helpful! Send me an email if you already have a venue and would like to enquiry about my packages.
There are also some new up and coming Hotels I would love to try:
Hotel Cal Reiet in Santanyi, a gorgeous holistic retreat also accepting weddings and events.
Hotel Pleta de Mar to open in 2017 in Canyamel.
I wish you a smooth wedding planning!! XXX Sandra
