Today I share with you this beautiful engagement photoshoot by the sea, in Mallorca. The couple, Christie and Edvard, had traveled from Austin (USA) to celebrate their fabulous destination wedding in Mallorca back in June. A few days before the big day we decided that having a few photos together would greatly help warm up to the camera for their big day. They had already had some photos taken in Florida by another photographer (not really recommended by the way, as you want your wedding photographer to do this!). The reason I mention it is because during a pre-wedding or engagement session, the couple gets to see how I work, they see how I talk and how I direct them, and hopefully, they get more relaxed in front of my camera. On the other hand, it also helps me to figure out how good they are in front of the camera. Some people act very naturally in front of the camera and other people get a little nervous. That is ok as I do not expect models, but real-life couples, but it shows me what needs encouragement or direction. I always say all you have to do is relax, enjoy, and be your most joyous self and that´s it!
Our location for the engagement session was going to be the Old Town in Palma but we decided at the last minute that after the long flight and all the wedding planning meetings, they were too tired for that. So instead I went to the hotel where they were staying at, the beautiful Hotel Melià de Mar, which has great views as it is right on the sea. It was a little cloudy to take too many photos at the small private beach but loved the new terrace with sun beds and umbrellas at the hotel by Italian designer Alberta Ferretti.
I loved that they picked white and blue colors to wear that matched the whole sea vibe. If you want to see Christie and Edvard´s fabulous wedding at Belmond La Residencia, click here.
